La Gorce Island

Picture-perfect streets lined by large palm trees, and some of the most breathtaking views.

Welcome to La Gorce Island

La Gorce Island seamlessly combines the classic and modern elements of Miami Beach’s most exclusive communities. Located in beautiful Biscayne Bay, south of Normandy Isles and just west of Allison Island, the island is one of the earliest planned communities in the city.

Longtime La Gorce residents have painstakingly preserved the neighborhood’s original landscaping. Today, the community is known for its picture-perfect streets lined by large palm trees, and some of the most breathtaking views in all of Miami North Beach.

La Gorce Island was built in 1924 by developer Carl Fisher, who named it after Dr. John Oliver LaGorce, his close friend and then president of the National Geographic Magazine Company. Much of the island’s history centers around La Gorce Country Club, an exclusive, by-invitation-only golf and country club established in 1927.

The island was developed in 1934 by La Gorce Island, Inc., which continued to have responsibility for its maintenance until 1946 when stewardship of the community was passed on to the La Gorce Homeowners Association.

Living in La Gorce

La Gorce is the choice of discriminating individuals and families who love the community’s old-world charm, modern conveniences, and utmost privacy and security. The island has 24/7 guarded gate entry, as well as roving street and water patrols.

The expansive homes in La Gorce are separated by parkways, which residents may not plant on to keep the area’s original landscaping untouched. The historical La Gorce Country Club makes up nearly all of the La Gorce neighborhood. This prestigious facility has been the community hub since its opening, particularly since its revitalization in 2005. In addition to the storied golf course, the country club also features tennis courts, a swimming pool, a fitness center, a clubhouse, and more.

With its central location, La Gorce puts residents no more than 25 minutes from the most sought-after attractions and business centers in the area, including South Beach, Bal Harbour, Downtown Miami, and the Miami Design District.

Nearby schools include Treasure Island Elementary School, Biscayne Elementary, and Miami Beach Senior High School, and I Preparatory Academy.
